Norddeutscher Rundfunk

The foreign studio in London of ARD German Television (joint organisation of Germany’s public-service broadcasters) is being upgraded to networked production technology in HD. CONFACTs GmbH prepares the required task book, in close co-operation with the employees on site. It also includes a migration concept for an uninterrupted changeover. (November 2016 until approx. March 2017)

In October 2016 CONFACTs GmbH shortly took over the project management and coordination during the ongoing project of a replacement of an OB van and supports additional the ongoing technical planning. (October 2016 until approx. May 2017)

Norddeutscher Rundfunk

In preparation for the upcoming changeover of ISDN to IP based communications at the broadcast centre of Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) in Hamburg CONFACTs GmbH determines the actual state with regard to the technology currently in use (codec, telephone hybrids, etc.) and the inventory of currently used workflows. Norddeutscher Rundfunk

CONFACTs GmbH creates the required tender documents for the procurement of an SNG van for the public broadcaster Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) for the German region of Schleswig-Holstein. Subsequently CONFACTs GmbH takes over the object management. (January 2016 until approx. mid 2017)

Westdeutscher Rundfunk

In December 2015 CONFACTs GmbH takes the project management and the detail planning for the multimedia control room of a digital concert hall in the “Funkhaus” of the broadcast centre of Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR). For this purpose, remote-controlled cameras on robotic camera heads are used wich can be operated via touch screen. The reconstruction of the control room took place within four weeks of a production break. (December 2016 until October 2016)

Saarländischer Rundfunk

The broadcast centre of Saarländischer Rundfunk (SR) replaces its technical operations centre of radio and television by one shared operation room. CONFACTs GmbH creates the required tender documents for the delivery of the system components and the integration service. Subsequently CONFACTs GmbH works out the detail planning for the broadcast and radio part. (March 2015 until October 2015)

Westdeutscher Rundfunk

The German broadcast centre of Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR) connects his production control room with different studio areas. CONFACTs GmbH supports WDR in the creation of EU tender and plans the KVM and audio infrastructure including a budget, service description, service index and block diagrams. In this technicaly challenging project both baseband, multiplex techniques and network technology such as “Dante” are used. Furthermore CONFACTs GmbH supports the implementation of this technical renewal and the necessary moves of individual control rooms. (December 2014 until first quarter 2017)

Südwestrundfunk

Südwestrundfunk (SWR) renews Studio 2 in Baden-Baden, where well-known formats like “Planet Wissen” are produced. At the same time, SWR establishes a new ingest for file based infrastructure. CONFACTs supports SWR with conceptual planning and prepares the tender for video and system parts. CONFACTs also provides support in project supervision.

SWR also renews the news studio in Mainz, production facility of the regional news of Rhineland-Palatinate (where regional news are produced). In this context SWR also establishes virtual studio technology. CONFACTs GmbH is preparing the tender for audio, video and system parts and will accompany the project during realisation.

Norddeutscher Rundfunk

Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) migrates its multimedia lab to HD. CONFACTs GmbH works out the complete detail planning for installation and cabling (February until expectedly September 2015).

fischer Appelt, play, Stuttgart

For the invest and the implementation of a new networked production platform at fischerAppelt, play GmbH, CONFACTs GmbH developed a complete functional profile of requirements, based on an analysis of the current state (November 2014 until March 2015).

Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR)

The broadcasting center of Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR, Part of ARD) in Cologne has been partly equipped with HDTV technology already in 2012. The remaining SD parts will now be replaced by HD components, too. CONFACTs GmbH supports WDR in conceptual design, tender preparation and video/audio planning. (November 2013 until expectedly December 2014)

For the implementation of the new networked production platform in the "Landesfunkhäuser" (NDR's local studios) in Schwerin, Kiel and Hannover, as well as the renewal of the television studios and control rooms at these locations, CONFACTs GmbH provides commissioning support and on-site supervision for NDR. (Starting August 2012)

Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (MDR)

According to ARD's decision for all subsidiary public stations, from now on all subtitle data shall be handled separately from audio and video. This will be implemented in the process of MDR's migration to HDTV broadcast, and CONFACTs GmbH supported MDR with developing a concept for separate subtitle handling throughout the whole production process, including recording, storage, transmission, distribution and archiving digital subtitles. (September until December 2012)

Südwestrundfunk (SWR)

The Südwestrundfunk (SWR) is modernizing their "compact studio" in Baden-Baden. The present video server will be replaced by an 8-channel Omneon Spectrum server by Harmonic, including control applications. Also one work station and several infrastructure components are replaced. CONFACTs worked out the detail planning for the audio, video and control parts, based upon the archived documentation from SWR. (September until October 2012)

The Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR) is renewing their "Studio E", where well-known news magazines such as "Monitor" or "Brennpunkt" are produced. CONFACTs prepared the tender for the Audio part of the project and also provides supervision of commisioning for this part. (February 2012 until expectedly July 2013)

Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR)

With the new HDTV distribution of NDR's channels, subtitle data is now processed separately from audio and video. Due to the separate transmission, storage and distribution of the subtitles, new workflows are needed at several points in the production process. Additionally, new workflows are needed for making the subtitles available to the station's web TV streaming services. CONFACTs GmbH supports NDR in developing and documenting new concepts and workflows. (Starting September 2011)

NDR's locations in Schwerin, Kiel and Hannover are to be migrated to a new networked production platform. All locations will be using a Omneon video server platform and Final Cut Pro editing suites. The audio editing suite will be based on a Fairlight Digital Audio Workstation. Media Asset Management will be realized using S4M's VPMS system, which will allow for seamless asset queries over all NDR locations. CONFACTs GmbH does the detailed planning for the server, editing and playout parts. (June 2011 until begin 2013)

Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR)

The "Norddeutscher Rundfunk" (NDR) is going to switch their Master Control Rooms for the "NDR fernsehen" (public-service television program for Northern Germany) channels to HDTV. CONFACTs supported NDR with conceptual planning at the beginning of the project as well as detailed planning and on-site supervision during realization phase. We also helped NDR with working out a coordinated switch-over plan for a seamless transition during live operation. (Mid-2011 until mid-2012)

Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR)

The Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR) is renewing its DSNG fleet in a partnership project together with Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR). In this course, the HD production facilities of WDR are significantly enhanced. CONFACTs GmbH has prepared the tender documents for all the four WDR SNG vehicles. During the realization phase, CONFACTs is providing support in project supervision for WDR. (2011)

PHOENIX / Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR)

Phoenix, a German news broadcaster, have renewed their non-linear production platform. In the integration and optimization process, CONFACTs GmbH acted as a consultant and project manager. Together with Phoenix, we checked the functionality and streamlined the workflows.

During this project, a wiki-based interactive manual for the system was set up by CONFACTs and is now used and extended by the administrators, users and planners of the system. (June 2009 until August 2010)

NDR television, Hamburg, renewed their OB Van "FÜ2". It consists of an HDTV-capable OB vehicle with five high definition cameras, and an auxiliary vehicle with an SNG uplink. CONFACTs GmbH assisted NDR with site supervision of all individual sections during the project realization. (March until November 2010)

Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg

The “Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg” (film academy of Baden-Wuerttemberg), which is one of the most renowned film academies all over the world, has numerous non-linear editing stations, at which students can learn the artistic and technical aspects of film editing. Now all editing rooms are to be modernized and will be made ready for high-definition productions. CONFACTs GmbH has prepared the tender including audio and video planning and customized technical contracts to suit the placing process in this specific project. So now the way to HDTV is paved for the film academy Baden Wuerttemberg. (April until August 2009)

Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen (ZDF)

ZDF (Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen, Second German Television), a large German public-service television broadcaster, has renewed their news studio and production area. Well-known programmes such as “heute” and “heute journal” are produced here. Technically, this area has been equipped with modern Virtual Studio technology and has been upgraded for HDTV. CONFACTs GmbH has supported ZDF with video planning. (June 2008 until February 2009)

The “Norddeutscher Rundfunk” (NDR, Northern German Broadcasting Corporation), based in Hamburg, took out a complete replacement of its master control room. For this project, CONFACTs GmbH offered different services based on HOAI including basic analysis, concept development and site supervision. (July 2006 until February 2010)

Dalet a.n.n. / Annova

Dalet a.n.n. (Annova) has assigned CONFACTs GmbH to create a market analysis focused on customer satisfaction and market potential concerning their OpenMedia product. As a part of this project, many Annova customers as well as non-customers and system integrators were surveyed. (January 2008)

Hessischer Rundfunk (HR)

The “Hessischer Rundfunk” (HR) has renewed the central playout control in its Kassel studio. CONFACTs GmbH has been instructed to prepare a concept for the new central audio and video infrastructure as well as the technical specifications and a budget. (April until June 2007)

Netorium GmbH

CONFACTs GmbH was responsible for project control in NDR’s new networked production platform on behalf of Netorium’s “Omneon” subdivision. The project had a duration of eighteen months and has been realized in three phases. In its final stage, the production platform was able to offer a tapeless workflow from ingest to playout. For the “ARD aktuell” networked production platform project of NDR, CONFACTs GmbH has developed the concept for integrating the new platform into the existing conventional infrastructure. Based on this concept, we created the tender and also performed the site supervision. Moreover, we planned several customizations and extensions and monitored their realization. VCS AG

CONFACTs GmbH was involved in the preparation of an offer to replace the production equipment in WDR's local studios in North Rhine-Westphalia. Out tasks included elaboration of a concept for the TV section and the coordination of the companys involved in the analysis of the offers. (May/June 2006)

Planning and site supervision for integrating several Chyron HyperX character generators for “ARD aktuell”. Apart from that, we realized a redundant MOS interface to NCRS as well as an extension of the computer based device allocation system. (August 2005 until March 2006)

TELTEC GmbH is a medium-sized professional broadcast equipment supplier. Their customers are mainly sub-suppliers for private and public-service broadcasters. As part of the company’s restructuring and reorientation, CONFACTs GmbH was commissioned with an accompanying Change Management consultancy for TELTEC. (June 2006 until December 2007)

Grass Valley Germany

Detailed planning for the extension of audio/video infrastructure in NDR’s “networked pro-duction platform” project for their local studios. To guarantee a seamless broadcast ser-vice while the reconstruction works, provisional workplaces have been designed and the whole playout center has been rotated. (June 2005 until January 2006)

Netorium GmbH

On demand of Netorium, CONFACTs took over the integration planning and project management for realizing a big Omneon SAN for the new transmission centre Freimann of Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR). Our tasks contain the attention of the delivery and commissioning of the components as well as the integration of the video server into the system environment consisting of Harris automation system, AVID Unity transfer manager and Diva archive system. (July 2004 until December 2005)

We elaborated a tender for the replacement of the central matrix control system. As part of the preparations, an actual status analysis and a set of requirements were made. To render the constraints more precisely, the product workshops were moderated and analyzed. (December 2004 until February 06)

Saarländischer Rundfunk

Preparation of a tendering by VOL for the renewal of a TV production studio (transition to a digital audio and video infrastructure). Our assignment was the elaboration of a comprehensive specification of services, the associated contract specification as well as the project-related adaptation of the contract conditions; (January until March 2004)

TELTEC GmbH

Planning and project management for the new transmission complex from Channel 9 (today "TV9") in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Beside the consultation of TELTEC and the end customer our tasks were the bid preparation for the complete project (production, editing, playout), the complete integration planning, the object supervision on-site, the commissioning as well as the training for the staff on the new technology (March until October 2003)

Our tasks were the planning of the reconstruction of the existing working environments, the integration of additional work stations and the extension of the video technical infrastructure as well as the site supervision during the implementation (April until October 2003)
